The praised dystopian anime Attack on Titan is likely one of the most popular to this point. In it, viewers follow the tale of soldiers who have been tasked with placing their lives on the road to protect their home from large humanoid beings. During the 4 seasons of the series, the characters endear the audience as they often stare loss of life within the face.

One of the ones beloved characters from is Jean Kirstein, a commanding officer within the Survey Corps. Those who learn the manga know that he all the time covers his ears. But why?

Why does Jean quilt his ears in 'Attack on Titan'?

In Attack on Titan, the specter of Titans is eternally looming over the lives of everybody who lives in the back of the Walls. Some folks do a higher process of coping with the stress than others. For Jean, he copes via covering his ears. He has a tendency to try this every time he will get beaten, which is, understandably, always. For instance, he did this when Sasha died.

In reality, in Jean's quote on his web page of the Attack on Titan Fandom references last himself off from the world: "I wished I could've stayed cooped up in my room, ears shut ... But if I had, the burnt ashes of the dead would never have forgiven me."

While Jean's approach of coping may be distinctive, it is smart that he would want a strategy to soothe himself with all the demise taking place around him.

In contrast, Eren doesn't know the way to manage at all. Just like with all kinds of Shōnen anime, the principle characters by no means take a smash and even let their wounds heal sooner than they're getting again to the battle. Even if all their bones are damaged (taking a look at you, Izuku Midoriya), they are all the time looking to press on and save the day. If Jean desires to cover his ears to lend a hand care for all of it, we will't get mad.

Jean is referred to as a pragmatic personality who is averse to striking himself in peril — on the other hand, with danger happening all around him with the titans, it makes sense that he would broaden some option to give himself a sense of peace.

You can watch all four seasons of Attack on Titan on Hulu and Crunchyroll, with new episodes popping out every Sunday until the season is over.
